Jose Mari Hall Lanuza is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Communication at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He is also Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of the Philippines Manila, and Head of Research at Sigla Research Center.

He was a 2024 Mellon/ACLS Dissertation Innovation Fellow. He studies electoral influence operations and disinformation in the Global South, the relation of local and national media system features to democratic practices and processes, and electoral campaigning tactics.
